Hearts with Voids

Image
To strive for a cause, to struggle for it with all of one’s heart, to be willing to give one’s life for it, one must have a firm conviction that things are not as they ought to be. Although most people have this feeling from time to time, it is not potent enough to make the average individual dedicate his energy to it. Only a lingering sense of anguish that remains constant can manifest powers of conviction rarely seen throughout history. This essentially means that only those souls can bend the destiny of the world who constantly feel as if something is amiss. Despite having all the comforts in the world and living lives free of all immorality which causes the soul to be in a state of torment, such people never feel at ease. Even if they themselves are at moral ease, seeing the state of things around them causes them immense distress and mental suffering: they have voids in their hearts. In such situations, there are only two paths that such persons can take: drown in their ...

Signs

Image
I was sitting under the shade of a tree When my mind started roaming free The eyes looked around and observed with glee When my mind started roaming free The flow of wind as it hit my face The motion of stars as they flew through space The sun and the moon bore witness to His grace The stillness of time as it flew through space What is life but endless strife? Is this the limit of the Artisan’s knife? Or is there something greater? Like the magma underneath the volcano’s crater? Is man loyal or is he a traitor? Will he die or will he meet his Maker? Conflict Between Reason and Emotions

Rational thinking and emotions are two opposites – yin and yang. Oftentimes sound reason leads man to one conclusion whereas his emotions lead him towards a vastly different path, usually the unwise and rash one. Most people let their emotions dictate their life and fail to use wisely the one faculty that renders man above other animals: his reason. It is not that they do not see the correct course of action. It has more to do with willpower instead of sheer ignorance. Somewhere in the back of mind, reason whispers to one’s soul the truth; but ego, arrogance, and the inability to accept one’s errors leads men to desist the path to enlightenment. Put bluntly, they lie to themselves. These imbeciles shower in their hubris. When someone tries to explain to them the correct course of action regarding some matter, they only accept input if it goes hand in hand with their own emotional framework. If these ideas clash with their ‘intuitive way of thinking,' they will call the persuad...

Propaganda: A Brief Overview

Image
A word often used in a negative connotation, propaganda is a term used to describe a form of communication used to influence people and to utilize their passions and emotions to further a particular agenda. In most cases, it is not objective and relies on persuasion tactics of Pathos instead of Logos; the former denoting emotional appeal and the latter signifying reason. Even though it is thought of as tools for deception and inherently immoral by a myriad of people, this was not always the case and propaganda was taken as a neutral descriptive term throughout most of history. Importance of Propaganda Propaganda has a profound impact on the life of an average human, yet we are engrossed in our lives to such an extent that we fail to realize when we are being influenced by different groups for their personal ends, whether consciously falling into their propaganda or subconsciously inclining towards it. By knowing how propaganda works and situations in which it is effective or detrimenta...
